Stephen A. MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer
Steve began his high technology career more than 30 years ago with Hewlett Packard, where he spent eleven years in international sales and marketing management. In 1983, Steve joined Adobe Systems as its first VP of Sales & Marketing when Drs. John Warnock and Charles Geschke were just forming the company. Steve led Adobe’s early PostScript licensing effort, signing leading imaging, printer and computer manufacturers, which ultimately formed the basis of the desktop publishing industry. He went on to become Adobe’s General Manager and COO before leaving the company in 1996 as Adobe approached $1B in revenue.
Steve left Adobe to become CEO of Active Software, a startup that helped define the Enterprise Application Integration category. WebMethods ultimately purchased Active Software in 2000 for $1.3B. Subsequent to Active Software, Steve has served as an independent consultant and advisor to software companies. He also served as an outside board member with two public companies: thirteen years with Verity Inc., and five years with NCD Computing. Steve holds a BS degree from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
